Camp

I have many memories of Marcel, most of which occur at the hunting camp. When my parent’s called to tell me of Marcel’s passing, I quietly wept in my car on the way home from work. My mind began to wander to the last time I saw Marcel. I’m sure it was at camp. I have one very strong memory of Marcel turning the corner, off the front porch, at camp and coming down to greet my father and I as we began to unload our gear for the weekend. Marcel’s greetings were my favorite. I can still feel his big hand shake and even bigger hug as he warmly says “Hey guys, let me help you with that” That’s really how I remember Marcel. Always helping us younger guys at camp. To my brothers and I, Marcel was our big brother, a super hero, and a warrior hunter. I spent many deer seasons hunting out of Marcel’s tree stand. I’d ask my Dad on the way to camp, “Where’re we hunting this weekend?” and He’d say without hesitation “Marcel’s stand, we always have the best luck in Marcel’s stand.” Marcel my friend, you will be missed. I will miss your greetings, your hand shakes, and big hugs. I’ll miss your advice and guidance in the woods, and I’ll miss your laugh as we tell stories by the fire. You will never be forgotten and you will always be missed. We all love you Marcel, rest easy my friend.
