Obituary for Joseph A. "Jay" Meyers

Joseph A. "Jay" Meyers, Sr.,
age 91, of Beechview, on Tuesday, March 7, 2006; Beloved husband of 50 years to the late Marie (Mooney) Meyers; Father and friend to Mary Margaret and Joseph (Janet) Meyers, Jr.; Grandfather of Mark and Matt; Brother of Monsignor John Meyers of TX and Patricia Hutchison of FL; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Joe was a WWII Navy Veteran. He retired in 1979 from Continental Insurance Company where he was employed as a Safety Engineer. He was a long-time and active member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Beechview and was involved for many years with St. Vincent DePaul Society and Beechview/Dormont Meals-On-Wheels. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS, Friends welcome at 2630 West Liberty Avenue, Dormont (412-531-4000), on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10am in St. Pius X Church. Interment Calvary Cemetery. Family suggests memorial contributions to Marian Manor Nursing Home, Special Care Unit, 2695 Winchester Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15220. Please view or add Tributes at
