I couldn think of a better way to honor Mr. Roach than with the planting of a tree that may one day be made into beautiful furniture as he did.

3 trees were planted in the memory of William Roach

I own an art gallery on Brookline Boulevard and Bill stopped in one day for a picture frame. We started talking and discovered that we shared an interest in woodworking. He invited me to his home to see some of his creations and I was amazed. He was a master craftsman working without plans on most of his projects. One day he asked me to stop by to see something he had just finished. It was the most beautiful roll top desk and chair made of 100% cherry wood. Imagine my shock when Bill asked me to accept it as a gift. I told him that I couldn’t possibly take it but he insisted that he wanted me to have it since he knew how much I would appreciate it. It remains one of my most prized possessions. After that, Bill would stop by from time to time to chat and discuss our other mutual interest, growing tomato plants. We shared seeds, plants and tomatoes for years before he finally stopped growing them. I will miss seeing him on the boulevard and of course, miss his visits. He was a remarkably generous man and an artist at heart. My deepest sympathies to his family. May he Rest In Peace. Bob Daley
