Obituary for Wallace John "Wally" Klein

Wallace John Klein

Wallace Klein, 93, originally from Cleveland, OH went peacefully to rest on April 13, 2023. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Raenelle Marie Priver Klein. He was father to Robert Wallace (Emily) Klein, Linnese Raenelle Klein (Robert) Dawe, Kevin Louis (Karen E.) Klein, and Karen Marie (Charles) Klein. Wally was the son of the late Louis Michael Klein and Leona Christiana Anna Kruggel Klein. He was preceded in death by his siblings Arlene Klein Drier, Carol Klein Fawcett and Robert R. Klein. He was the proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He also was Uncle Wally to many nieces and nephews. Wally loved having his family around him.

Wally worked for his father in Klein’s Market in Cleveland, OH. He was also an Eagle Scout and was pleased to have Kevin earn his Eagle Scout and to participate as Kevin’s boys TJ, James and Arthur also earned their Eagle Scout. Linnese and her boys Robert and Nathan also were active in scouting. Wallace served in the US Army for two years in Special Services Laboratory and in the Signal Corps Engineering Laboratory in Fort Monmouth, NJ during the Korean conflict.

Wallace earned his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Case Institute of Technology, now known as Case Western University, and later earned his master's in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh.

Wallace worked for 40 years at United States Steel. He worked with USS Engineers and Consultants on projects in Sarajevo, Zenica, Yugoslavia and Pittsburg, CA. He was Chief Engineer and the Joliet Works, Senior Design Engineer at USS headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA, Chief Engineer at Gary Steel Works, Director of Purchasing Capital equipment, and Vice President of American Bridge Division of USS Corporation from which he retired in 1986. He then went on to work at American Shear Knife Company to start up the Electrical Automation Division and retired in 1994. Wally inspired three of his children, Rob, Kevin and Karen, to become engineers also! After retirement, he served on the Peters Township Planning Commission Board for 10 years, and was on the Canonsburg Lake Restoration and Improvement Committee to remove the silt and debris from the lake. Once he moved to Concordia of the South Hills, Wallace was on the residents' board and assisted in several projects, including the roof over the garage and adjusting parking in the front of the building.

Wallace was also a devoted worker in all the churches he attended, serving as an elder for many years. He also was a dedicated choir member. His faith was very important to him and he instilled that in his children and grandchildren. He was currently a member at Peace Lutheran Church (Carol Drive), McMurray, PA.

Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS. Friends and family are welcome at 2828 Washington Rd. McMurray, 724-941-3211 on Friday, April 21st 2-4PM and 6-8PM. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 22nd 11AM at Peace Lutheran Church 107 Carol Drive, McMurray, PA. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Gardens.
