Virginia “Ginny” Garvey
Ginny was born Virginia Kaye in Rockville Centre, NY and raised on Long Island, NY. She graduated from Southside High School and went to work as a bookkeeper in Manhattan.
Ginny and George Garvey married on September 12, 1953, beginning 68 years of happy marriage. George preceded her in death last year. Ginny and George moved to Upper St. Clair in 1965 where Ginny began lifelong friendships with women from her bridge group, book club, St. Clair Country Club, and her neighborhood. She was a devoted member of St. John Capistran Parish. Ginny is survived by her brother, Peter (Rebecca); her children, George (Mary), Pete (Barbara), Susan (Peter) and Tom (Laura); nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her elegant taste, sense of adventure, and love and enthusiasm for travel and the outdoors.
The family would like to thank the staff at Friendship Village and Gallagher Hospice for their care and kindness.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 21, 2022, at 10am in St. John Capistran Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to TMAF of Friendship Village.
