Theodore J. Wolfe, Jr., of Mt. Lebanon, formerly of Brentwood, passed away peacefully at Paramount Senior Living on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at the age of 96. Born February 18, 1926, Ted lived a long, fulfilling life dedicated to his family. He leaves behind his children: Maria Harmer (Andrew), Erica LeDonne (Thomas), Kurt Wolfe (Jennifer), Angela Wolfe (Brent Whipkey), Elizabeth Errickson (Mark) and Christian Wolfe (Tracy). Also his 13 grandchildren: Emma, Elise, and Liam Harmer; Matthew, Jessica, and Ally LeDonne; Kaitlyn and Joshua Wolfe; Grace and Alec Whipkey; Conner and Trey Errickson; and Giavanna Wolfe as well as his siblings Marilyn Campbell, Ronald Wolfe, Richard Wolfe and their families along with many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wives Joan (Faust) and Madelyne (Gazdacko) and his parents Theodore Wolfe, Sr. and Gladys (Query) Wolfe.

Theodore grew up in Wilkinsburg, PA, where he graduated from Wilkinsburg High School in 1943. Ted then attended Penn State University for a year, where he also played football and lacrosse, before enlisting in the Marine Corps where he served in the Pacific theater of World War II. When the war was over, Ted was employed by Bethlehem Steel, where he traveled the country setting up work sites. Eventually, he returned to Wilkinsburg where he married his first wife Joan. Ted raised his first 3 children with Joan in Brentwood, PA. He remarried a few years after her untimely death and went on to raise 3 more children in Brentwood as a single father after the untimely death of his second wife, Madelyn. About 7 years ago, Ted moved to Mt. Lebanon, PA, with his daughter Elizabeth and her family.

After working for Bethlehem Steel, Ted spent many years in the insurance industry. He was then employed by the PLCB and managed several state stores around Allegheny County. Retiring at the age of 80, Ted fulfilled a lifelong dream and finished his Bachelor’s degree that he had been forced to abandon due to WWII at the age of 85.

Ted was also an avid sports fan, particularly the local Pittsburgh teams, and Penn State. He spent many Sundays cheering on his beloved Steelers in person with family members at Three Rivers Stadium and Heinz Field.

A life-long Catholic, Ted was an active member of St. James Parish in Wilkinsburg, St. Sylvester Parish in Brentwood, and Resurrection Parish in Bethel Park. He will be remembered by all who loved him as the patriarch and rock of the Wolfe family.
