Obituary for Ronald Francis Evans
Ronald F. Evans, Age 88, of McMurray, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June16, 2020. He was the beloved husband of the late Virginia “Ginny” Evans; Loving father of Ronald (Donna) of Mars, PA, Garret (Deborah) of Gainesville, FL, and Robin Evans of Mt. Lebanon , PA; Proud grandfather of Corinne, Daniel, Jacob, Callen, and the late William Evans; Son of the late William and Helen Evans. He is preceded in death by his siblings, William, Richard, Father Alan, O.P, Robert Evans and Mary Ann Welding. He is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews; and his best friend of 84 years, Aldo (Barbara) Gelpi.
Ron served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later became the Co-Owner of Pittsburgh Dial Company. Ron was a faithful fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams. As a longtime member of Valley Brook Country Club, he enjoyed his Wednesday golf crew; gardening; but he enjoyed nothing more than to spend time with his family and friends.
Friends and family are welcome at 2828 Washington Road, McMurray on Friday from 5-8 PM. At the family’s request, all guests will be required to wear a mask or facial covering, and adhere to social distancing guidelines and our staff will monitor attendance to ensure gathering restrictions and everyone's safety. Funeral service and entombment will be private at the family’s request. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ron’s grandson, the late William Evans, to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society | Riverwalk Corporate Center (lls.org).
