Age 94, of Scott Township, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 1, 2020. Robert "Bob", beloved husband of Dorothy "Dottie" for 73 years; cherished father of Jan (Bruce) Hoffman and Beverly Onorato; loving grandfather of J R Lott, Lisa (John) McLaughlin, Christen (Daniel) Irwin, and Michael Onorato; and precious great-grandfather of Aidan and E J McLaughlin, and Nahla and Hezekiah Irwin. Bob graduated from Aliquippa High School in 1943. Following graduation, he served as a tail gunner on a B-24 with the United States Army Air Force in World War II. When he returned home, he married his sweetheart, Dottie, and they settled in Scott Township to raise their daughters. Bob retired in 1988 from his career in the coal business, having worked for Duquesne Light Company and completing his career with Crown & Coke Company. During his retirement years, Bob planned and took many road trips with Dottie throughout the United States and much of Canada. He composed beautiful photographs of places they visited and took pleasure in framing them for display year-round. He also enjoyed reading and spending time outdoors appreciating scenery, weather, and wildlife. Most of all, Bob was a devoted family man, for which he was adored and admired. Family and friends are welcome on Monday, from 2-4 p.m., at BEINHAUR FUNERAL HOME, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, (724-941-3211). Interment will be private. A service to celebrate his life and a Witness to the Resurrection will be held at Beverly Heights Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, at 1 p.m. The service will also be streamed at beverlyheights.org.
