Robert William “Bob” Maher, Sr.
Age 87, of Overland Park, KS, formerly of Beaver Falls and Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2023. Bob was the beloved husband for 60 years to the late Mary "Marlena" Maher; loving father of Bob Maher, Jr., John (Kate) Maher, Mary Lynn (Robert) Beck, and Dennis (Kim) Maher; proud and adored grandfather and great-grandfather; cherished brother of Kitty Zurenko and the late Tom Maher, Mary Margaret Hoetzlein, and Rosemary Shorkey; caring son of the late John and Grace (Richey) Maher. Bob was a proud graduate of Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh and the Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio, where he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. Upon graduating college, he worked for both Babcock & Wilcox and Perdue Farms as a computer analysist. After retiring, Bob became a PGA Golf Pro in Ocean City, MD. He was an avid sports fanatic and loved the game of Basketball and Golf. Bob was the proverbial “gym rat” who instructed many basketball and golf players throughout his life. Bob had a strong Catholic faith and centered his life on both his family and “JOY” (Jesus, Other’s, and Yourself). Funeral arrangements entrusted to BEINHAUERS (724-941-3211).
