Obituary for Regis J. Zezulewicz Sr.

Age 89, peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022. Dedicated husband for 65 years of the late Barbara A. (Young) Zezulewicz, he is preceded in death by parents Stephen and Selma (Kulbacki) Zezulewicz, brother Norbert and sisters Gertrude and Margaret. Proud father of Regis J. Zezulewicz Jr. (Doralee), Marge Zezulewicz, Theresa Duffy (Michael Kulich), grandchildren Scott, Jessica and Stefan, and great-grandchildren Natalie, Max and Ruby. He cherished the company of his brother Michael, sister Sally and sister-in-law Shirley (Jeff) Favorite. An Army veteran of the Korean War, Rege enjoyed his lifelong friends from the Dixie Division. He was a proud Teamster who drove over the road tractor trailers for several years before driving locally. He also ran a printing business for several years before his retirement. He was a lifelong member of the Moose and American Legion. Rege was very proud of his Polish heritage and always remembered where he came from. “Big Z” was an avid sports fan, always cheering for his beloved Pittsburgh teams and Penn State. He was especially fond of the Duke Blue Devils and loved March Madness. He enjoyed wintering in Myrtle Beach, making friends easily. ‘Big Z’ loved teasing whoever he met and had some great one-liners. He enjoyed sharing a good meal and a cold beer with his family and friends. There wasn’t a pierogi or a dessert he didn’t enjoy. Rege spent much of his retirement years at ‘The Cottage’ in Hadley, PA where he fished and tended to his vegetable garden, befriending the Amish community and neighbors. He would share whatever he had. He preferred a shot and a beer to a greeting card, and until the end, he asked for a million dollars or a bottle of whiskey when you asked him if he needed anything. Private services will be held for his family and close friends. Memorial donations may be made to St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish, 1810 Belasco Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15216 (https://stteresakolkatapgh.org/) or to any organization that pays if forward, as ‘Big Z’ was always grateful for what he had and generous to those who were in need.
