Obituary for Paul William Caspary Jr.

Paul William Caspary, Jr., age 83, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022, at home in Venetia, PA, succumbing to COVID-related complications. Beloved husband of Marianne (Cherilla) Caspary for 60 years; loving father of Lynne (David) Paul, Patricia (Robert) Adham, Christine Lauble and Paul A. Caspary; cherished grandfather of Adam Paul, Natalie (Michael) Jocz, Megan Paul, Stephanie Lauble and Leo Lauble; dear brother of Patricia (the late Vincent) Laughlin; brother in-law to Barbara (the late Edward) Zalagens and William and Diana Cherilla; and treasured family member to several nieces, nephews and cousins. Paul was born on June 18, 1938 to Paul W. Caspary, Sr., and Mae Woods Caspary. Raised in Elliot, Paul attended St. James School in Pittsburgh’s West End, graduating with the class of 1956. Paul worked his entire career for Duquesne Light Company, rising in the ranks from survey crew and draftsman in the engineering department, ultimately spending his last 30 years at Beaver Valley Power Station as a Nuclear Construction Specialist. The Duquesne Light Company picnics orchestrated by Paul were a summer highlight for many families. Paul enjoyed working in the garden and acting as sous chef in Marianne’s busy kitchen. Entertaining with Marianne brought special joy to the couple and to their many guests, always including an abundance of food and laughter. Paul enthusiastically participated in any activity involving his grandkids and eagerly shared in each of their lives. He embraced his roles of loving husband, supportive father, and special grandparent. He was a trusted and loyal friend to many people, maintaining friendships for decades. Paul was an usher and choir singer at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin in Whitehall, PA. He was a humble and caring man willing to help anyone who needed a hand. An avid Pittsburgh sports fan, Paul regularly watched the Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, Pitt Panthers, and Washington & Jefferson Field Hockey games. A celebration of life is being planned for the summer of 2022. If desired, the family suggests contributions in Paul’s memory to the Beaumont Health Alzheimer’s Research Fund at Beaumont Health Foundation, 26901 Beaumont Blvd, Southfield, MI, 48033. Arrangements have been entrusted to Beinhauer Funeral Home.
