Obituary for Nancy Ann Mele (Marquer)

Nancy A. Marquer-Mele, 66, of Eighty-Four, PA passed away on January 7, surrounded by her family. Loving daughter of the late August Marquer and Edith Shadler, and sister to Carol Rumberger and Yvonne Zanos (dec).

Nancy was born on August 1 in the city of Homestead. She graduated from Canon McMillan in 1971 along with her husband Frank A. Mele. Nancy and Frank went on the complete their bachelor’s degrees at St. Joseph’s College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Shortly after college, they were wed. Nancy and Frank were married on August 2, 1975. At this time, they joined the Mele family grocery business and started their family. Nancy worked as the manager and head floral designer for the multiple store locations. She continued floral design after her husband retired and until the end of her life.

Nancy enjoyed hiking, travel, nature, and the arts. She enjoyed planning hiking trips for her family and friends. She especially loved hiking in the American west and enjoyed the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument above all. Nancy supported the arts in Pittsburgh by being a season ticket holder to the Pittsburgh Broadway Series for over 20 yrs. She was a devoted mother and sympathetic friend. She will be remembered for her charm, beauty, wit, and kindness.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Frank A. Mele.

Nancy will be forever remembered by her children, Terri Mele-Albarano, Christy Mele, and Anthony Mele, her sons in law Josh Spiegel and Jason Albarano, and her grandchildren, Corryn Albarano and Stella Spiegel.
