Nancy Lorraine Hartzell (Strasser)

Age 87, of Upper St. Clair, Formerly of Bridgeville, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Nancy was the beloved wife of John H. “Jack” Hartzell; loving mom of Jack (Carolyn) Hartzell, Jeff (Greer Lowry) Hartzell, and Judi (Seth) Webb; adoring grandma of Ty and Adam Webb; dear sister of the late Robert Strasser; sister-in-law of Ethel Jean (the late Ned) Espy, Darlene Strasser, and the late Maureen Strasser; aunt of Loreen Strasser, Corinne Bierman, Marni Durham, Ned Espy, David Espy, and Sarah Settlemyre; cousin of Rosalie Filler and the Rittinger sisters, Susan and JoAnn, as well as many, many others. She was preceded in death by her dear parents Peter and Eva (Nader) Strasser. Additionally, Nancy is survived by her many friends, including her Seton Hill College classmates, as well as her Trotwood Hills neighborhood coffee and lunch groups.

Nancy graduated from Bridgeville High School in 1953, and Seton Hill College in 1957 where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She went on to teach second grade in South Fayette School District. She married Jack Hartzell, of Mt. Lebanon, on August 19, 1961. Nancy loved adventures and being active doing various activities like bowling, golfing and biking. One of her most thrilling experiences was riding a bicycle down a volcano—Haleakala—in Hawaii.

Arrangements by BEINHAUERS. Friends and family welcome at 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 15317, 724-941-3211, on Thursday from 4-6 p.m. Funeral service to immediately follow from 6-6:30 p.m. Afterward at 7 p.m., the family will continue to welcome all relatives and friends to join them at a Celebration of Life reception hosted at SouthPointe Golf Club, 360 Southpointe Boulevard, Canonsburg, PA 15317.
