Mary Louise "Mary Lou" Dickerson

Age 79, of Mt. Lebanon passed away peacefully on March 29, 2021 at McMurray Hills Manor in Peters Township.

She was born November 22, 1941 in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late John and Mary (McEvoy) Pringle.

Mary Lou graduated from Sacred Heart High School, and Carlow University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a Masters Degree in Education. She went on to teach high school Biology in the Pittsburgh City Schools until her retirement.

On July 24, 1971 she married John W. Dickerson, who survives her.

Mary Lou is also survived by her loving daughter, Erin Dickerson Burrows (Scott) of Peters Township; her grandchildren who she adored, Ava, Emma, Ryan and Parker Burrows of Peters Township; her sisters, Linda Rudzinski (Lawrence) of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, Cynthia DeFilippo (Dr. Richard) of Pittsburgh, Dr. Jacqueline Pringle Gendell of Pittsburgh and her brother, John Pringle (Debi) of Taos, New Mexico; her godchildren, Lance Rudzinski, Beth Gibson, and Christian DeFilippo; and nieces and nephews, Dr. Leslie Rudzinski, Dr. Jennifer Osborne, Joshua and Stephen DeFilippo, and Alexandra and Max Harris who she loved so very much.

Mary Lou was a faithful servant to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was very active in the Catholic faith community. She was an avid tennis player and she loved traveling. She was an amazing cook and she loved to dance. She treasured spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317. A Mass of Catholic Burial at St. Bernard’s Church, 311 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, 15216 will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Pittsburgh.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

The family of Mary Lou would also like to thank Debra Ramey, the staff at McMurray Hills Manor and the staff of Gateway Hospice for all the loving care they provided to her.
