Obituary for Martin J. "Marty" Ragan Jr.

Age 85, of Peters Township, passed away after a courageous battle on Friday, March 4, 2022. Mr. Ragan was born on February 24, 1937 in Johnstown, PA to the late Martin Joseph and Anna (Ondrejik) Ragan, Sr. Beloved husband of Annette M. (Marra) Ragan for 14 years; loving father of Martin J. Ragan, III and the late Sean A. Ragan; caring brother of Michael F. (Mary Ann) Ragan, Regis J. Ragan, Ronald W. (Iris) Ragan, Patricia C. Ragan, the late Mary Lou Ragan, and the late Anna Marie (William) Dudak. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
Mr. Ragan is a graduate from Johnstown High School, Class of 1955, and the University of Pittsburgh. He proudly served our nation in the U.S. Army. Mr. Ragan was a Certified Public Accountant and a consultant with a career that spanned over six decades. He began his career at Arnold, Kenzleiter and Levine. He worked for various other accounting firms. He served as controller at Action Industries, Inc. and was a founding partner at Ragan & Connell, P.C. He totally enjoyed his profession and loved working with his clients, but most important, his clients loved him.
Marty was always Irish in a big way and the life of the party on St. Patrick’s Day. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler’s fan and a season ticket holder. Marty also enjoyed spending time at his home in Naples, Florida. He was member of BPOE Elks and a long time member of St. John XXIII Parish.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Benedict the Abbot Church, 120 Abington Dr. McMurray, PA 15317 on Thursday, March 10th at 11:30-12PM, prior to Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at Noon. Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In celebration of Marty’s life, a reception will follow the burial at St. Benedict the Abbot Church, Pope Benedict Hall.
