Obituary for Margaret V. "Peg" Burke

Margaret “Peg” V. Burke

Born on May 8, 1923 – Deceased—March 19, 2021

Margaret was born and raised in Peters Twp. After high school she attended the Washington Female Seminary, and a number of years later, attended night classes at the University of Pittsburgh.
Thirty- seven plus of her forty-five working years were spent at Westinghouse Headquarters in Pittsburgh as an executive secretary. Peg was a life-long active member of Center Presbyterian Church in McMurray. Over those years she served as a Primary Sunday School teacher, pianist, Board member, and Librarian plus numerous other roles.
Her favorite past- times were golf and U.S. & world travel, plus, she had a life-long interest in music.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Ann Burke, with whom she has lived for over 90 plus years. She is survived by three nieces- Margaret Tilton in Dover, PA, Nancy Newman in Gettysburg, PA, and Judy Burke in Ashland, Ohio. Deceased are her brother William J. Burke and two nephews Wm. James Burke and Jon Burke.
In addition, she is survived by three great- nieces, two great- nephews, four great, great nieces and three great, great nephews.
A service in her memory will be held at Center Presbyterian Church in McMurray on Saturday, March 27 at 1PM following a short visitation with the family at 12PM.
Her family wishes to thank the Gallagher Hospice and the Angels for the Elderly for the wonderful attention and care given during Peg’s illness. The family also appreciated the special cards, foods and love shared by friends and members of the church.
