Helen Lorraine Sachse, nee Schwartz, passed peacefully to the loving hands of God surrounded by family on Thursday, May 7th, just shy of her 98th birthday. Lebanon, and Kimberly (Joseph Grimes) Sachse of Mt. Lebanon; grandmother of Alyssa and Nicole Reuter and Luke and Anna (Chase Mengle) Sachse; and great-grandmother to Layla Mengle. Lorraine was preceded in death by brothers John and Charles (Helene) Schwartz, sisters Eleanor (Robert) Shaffer and Ruth (Paul) Timmerman, and brother-in-law Russell Kelly. Lorraine graduated from McKeesport High School, Wooster College, and the University of Pittsburgh. The child of Charles G. Schwartz and Helen Meese Schwartz, Lorraine developed strong values, including hard work, tenacity, and integrity, from her parents and from her work at the ice cream counter of the Schwartz-family drug store in Wilmerding. Lorraine had a kind spirit, a keen mind, and a deep heart. A member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair for more than 60 years, and an active participant in PEO, Lorraine treasured her summers at Chautauqua Institution. In her later years, Lorraine and Elmer moved from their family home in Upper St. Clair to Friendship Village of South Hills, where Lorraine greatly appreciated the love and attention of the hero staff members.
