Obituary for June Bernice Bianco (Simon)

Age 85, of Peters Twp., peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020. She was born on June 2, 1934 (named after the month of her birth), the daughter of the late Cecilia (Kennedy) and Maurice Simon. In addition to her parents, June was predeceased by her best friend and sister, Maureen (Leckenby) and her soulmate and loving husband Valentino Bianco Sr.
She was the loving sister of her brother Michael (Kathleen), and loving mother of Michael (Barbara), Valentine (Elizabeth), Marc (Stephanie), James (Kathleen), Cecilia (William-dec) and Matthew (Christine). In addition to her children, Grandma June left behind 34 Grandchildren and 37 Great-grandchildren.
June graduated from St Basil’s High School in 1952 and despite receiving an academic scholarship did not attend college. Her last 20 years of employment were in her son Michael’s office as a receptionist, however her true ministry in life was her selfless dedication to her husband and six children as the matriarch of her family. She became a young widow at the age of 48, but through determination learned to drive and got a job at Gimbels in Pittsburgh. She enjoyed her grandchildren tremendously and always had several for weekend sleepovers for years. After the death of both of their husbands, she was a constant companion to her loving sister Maureen. She evangelized her strong Catholic faith more by example than words and our deep sadness is tempered by the knowledge that she is with her heavenly Father.
With the current situation, her funeral will be private, with a memorial Mass to be scheduled when possible. Those who wish to remember June in a special way my make a gift to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/). Please add or view tributes at www.beinhauer.com.
