Joe Lauer, age 70, of Mt. Lebanon, passed away peacefully on August 31st, 2020. He was the loving father of Brian Lauer, Jenna (Kevin) Kirkpatrick, Devon (Kristen) Lauer and the late Chris Lauer; Proud grandfather of Addison and Aiden Kirkpatrick; Son of the late Sylvester and Grace Lauer and beloved partner of Janice Welch. He is also survived by cousin Diane Baskind and many other members of his extended family.

Joe was a standout athlete in high school in both football and track for both South Hills Catholic and Chartiers Valley during the late 60’s, later in life becoming passionate about golf. Although a great Athlete he was much more than that; Joe was very insightful, very creative and could sell anything to anybody. His charm and personality were very open and he captured the hearts of all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends as he was loved by all.

Visitation will be Friday, September 4th, 2020 at Beinhauer Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8PM at 2828 Washington Rd., McMurray, PA 15317; Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation ( The family invites you to share memories and written condolences at

Our deepest sympathies are with Joe's family. I was one of his many cousins and enjoyed his friendship since we were both kids. My mother Sara was the youngest of the Kelly family and we always enjoyed the times our cousins got together. I was so glad I had a chance to recently talk with Joe and our hearts and prayers go out to his loved ones.

Our deepest sympathies.
Joe and I were early childhood friends and then we reconnected in high school, as friends and teammates at SHC. He was always a great, fun-loving guy, and never seemed to get any older. We lost one of the really good ones.
RIP Joe.

My S.H.C.H. school friend Joe Lauer showed respect for my devoted Mother at her viewing. Joe looked sharp and handsome as he did after playing in our HS football games and then partying afterwards. I LOVE YOU MY FRIEND JOE.

My memories of Joe are of his young childhood. I am his cousin who moved away from Pgh. when Joe was eight years old. One memory is that his father always had to be home when Joe got home from school or Joe had a big fit if finding the house empty when he got off the school bus. I remember how his dad just loved being a father and was happy that Joe needed him so much.
