To the McIlwain family, I am sorry for your loss.
Thank you for sharing John with all of us. As a student in WU's Criminal Justice program I was greatly impacted by the knowledge, grace, and care Mac had for all of us. He was a faithful ambassador for his God, and passed on to us how to be Christ-like in our place within the field.
As my advisor, Mac shared with me so much of his wisdom in the daily things, and in the life altering challenges.
I now find myself as a teacher as well. The lessons, passion, fun, and grace that Mac shared with us, I now find myself trying to channel to my students too.
Thank you, Mac's family and friends, for your part in shaping the man who so faithfully taught us. I am praying for you as you navigate this season.

My thoughts are with you all during this time of sorrow following the loss of John. I had the pleasure of working with John at ATF. As a new supervisor, John was a mentor, a teacher, a voice of reason and a fresh dose of reality. His job knowledge was exceptional. Serving as a teacher as a second career truly made sense. Besides work, John and I shared many Little League stories as we both enjoyed coaching. I would like to wish you comfort during this difficult time, and my deepest sympathies to all of his family and friends. Rest in Peace, John.
