Obituary for John Thomas Fox

Age 96, died peacefully on Tuesday November 26, 2019. He was beloved husband of Veronica (Gavin) Fox for 69 years; loving father of Joellen (Fox) Serkes, John Stephen Fox and he was predeceased by his son Thomas Edward Fox. He was a loving grandfather and great grandfather. In addition to his parents Francis Henry and Catherine Fox, he was predeceased by his sisters Margaret Reilly and Mary Alpi. He is survived by his sister Catherine Stevens and brothers-in-law William Reilly and Ed Alpi.
John Thomas was a 1943 graduate of US Merchant Marine Academy and served as a 1st lieutenant in WWII. He worked for the NY Telephone Company as a building engineer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Ancient Order of Hibernians, and a volunteer for the Mount Kisco Mutual Fire department. He also served on the Mount Kisco village planning board.
After retiring to Chatham, Massachusetts he was responsible under the direction of state senator Edward Kennedy to have the postal stamp changed from Buzzards Bay to Cape Cod. He worked in the Chatham Information booth and on the traffic committee. He was the designer of the first Chatham town flag showing the dual lighthouses.
Friends and family are welcome at a mass of remembrance on Tuesday December 10th at 11:30 am to be celebrated at St Francis of Assisi church in Mount Kisco, New York. Please add or view tributes at www.beinhauer.com.
