Obituary for Joan F. Turnbell
Age 94, of Upper St. Clair, Friendship Village passed away on October 3, 2022. A former resident of Bethel Park for 60 years, she moved to Friendship Village in August 2012. Joan was the only child born to J. Duane and Mary E. Ferguson in McKeesport, PA. Beloved mother of Susan (Paul) Gido, Richard (Wendy) Turnbell and Rebecca (John) Nemchick: grandmother of Julie (Marcus) Cognetti, John Gido, and the late Scott (Amy) Turnbell: great grandmother of Will and Alec Turnbell and Aria and Hunter Cognetti. Joan was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Harold S. Turnbell and her grandson Scott T. Turnbell.
She was a graduate of Margaret Morrison Carnegie College which was the women’s college for Carnegie Mellon University with a major in English in 1950. Her hobbies included reading, bridge, genealogy, flower arranging, and watching Pittsburgh Steelers football.
Funeral and burial will be private. Interment will be at Long Run Cemetery, North Huntington Twp.
