Obituary

James E. Treher, age 92, received his angel wings on Sunday, October 11, 2020. Jim a.k.a "Spike", is survived by his wife, Barbara; two children, James, Jr. (Carol) and Adrienne Treher Taucher (Frank). He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Frank Andrew and Victoria Elise Taucher. Jim, a United States Marine Corps veteran, followed by 25 years of service with the FBI, was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. During his tenure with the FBI, he served as Assistant to J. Edgar Hoover, Resident Agent in charge of the Youngstown Office of the FBI and investigative and supervisory positions in San Francisco, Detroit, New Orleans, Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C. His son, Jim, Jr., inherited his father's badge in 1980, continuing the family legacy. A graduate of Langley High school and subsequently Duquesne University, Jim became the Director of Allegheny County Police Academy for several years. He then entered the private sect following his distinguished career with the FBI founding Corporate Investigations, Inc., specializing in preemployment investigations, in 1985. The company continues today reflecting his business savvy, work ethic and attention to detail, under his daughters leadership. A patriot and active in his community, Jim was a member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, the FBI National Academy Associates, Western Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, American Legion Post 760, VFW Post 5012, the Association of Former Intelligence Officers and Marine Corps League. He served as Councilman in Bethel Park, PA for four years and was the first Commandment of the South Hills Detachment of the Marine Corps League. Much thanks and appreciation to his caregivers at Providence Point and St. Clair Hospital. Arrangements by BEINHAUER. Services are private. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution can be made to Tunnels to Towers (https://tunnel2towers.org/), Duquesne University (https://duq.edu/), and Shriners Hospitals for Children (https://lovetotherescue.org/).
