Obituary for James Richard "Rudy" DeCort

James Richard “Rudy” DeCort 73, died peacefully on February 27, 2022, in Mercer County, PA. James is survived by his sisters Diana “Dee” DeCort Haid and Carol DeCort Mitterer both of Bethel Park, his fiancé Kathleen Romanko of Mercer, PA and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father James Regis DeCort and mother Josephine Fiorvanti DeCort of Pittsburgh, brother in laws Gilbert “Skip” Haid Sr. of Baldwin and James Mitterer of Bethel Park.
Jim was born on July 21, 1948, in Pittsburgh and graduated from South Hills Catholic in 1966. He managed Rudy’s House of Submarines in Mt. Oliver and later bought the business and renamed it Subplace Special he also owned Brownsville Deli. He enjoyed spending weekends and holidays in the Volant/Mercer County area and retired in 2004 and moved there permanently.
His family and friends will remember him for his quick wit, love of trivia, history, reading and antiquing.
Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS. Family and Friends are welcome at 2828 Washington Rd. McMurray, 724-941-3211 on Friday 10AM-1PM, where a blessing service will be held at 1PM. Interment to follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
