Joseph Dennis (Denny) Ryan, of Upper St. Clair Township. Born June 18, 1930 in McKeesport, PA son of the late Joseph Regis Ryan and the late Eileen Sheridan Downs Ryan. Beloved husband of 49 years to the late Margaret Hanley Ryan. Survived by three children: Denise Gleeson (Robert) of Beachwood, Ohio; Elizabeth Thomas (late William) of Upper St. Clair; and Michael (Shannon Herrity) of Northville, Michigan. Also survived by six grandchildren: Dennis Thomas (Brandi) with first great grandson due in summer 2021; Caitlin Thomas Mizzer (Robert); Zachary Gleeson (fiancé Brittany); Hannah Gleeson; Sean Thomas; and Sean Ryan. Also survived by his sister Sheila Ryan of Valencia, PA and his nephews: Thomas Delo, Robert Delo, John Delo, and Douglas Delo. His sister Maureen Delo preceded him. Dennis was a graduate of St. Vincent College and attended graduate school at the University of Illinois. He spent his career at Carnegie Mellon University serving as Director of Career Services and Placement before retiring in 1993. He loved playing golf and exploring his Irish heritage. Funeral mass Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 10 am, St. Thomas More Church of Resurrection Parish, 126 Fort Couch Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15241. Interment at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, McMurray, PA.
