Obituary for Eugene John "Gene" Pasquinelli

EUGENE (GENE) J. PASQUINELLI

Age 87, of South Fayette. Beloved Son of the late John A. Pasquinelli and Elsie V. Pasquinelli and Brother of the late Ronald J. Pasquinelli (survived by Mary). Beloved Husband of Evelyn (Marino) Pasquinelli. Dear Father of Christine (Kevin) O’Neill and Dear Father of Laura (Maurizio) Signorelli. Grandfather of Jennifer Lynn O’Neill, Kylee Grace O’Neill, Antonio Eugene Signorelli and Eugene James Signorelli.

Gene had steadfast love of country and proudly served in the U.S. Army. As a young boy, in eighth grade he was sent from class by the sisters of St. George’s in Beltzhoover to play taps for military funerals.

After graduating from St. George’s High School with high honors, Gene earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Institute of Technology. Gene’s most proud professional achievement occurred while working at the Bettis Atomic Power Lab in the nuclear refueling group where he refueled naval reactors on ships including the famed carrier USS Enterprise and USS Long Beach. His career included working on pressure vessels for large corporations including Davy Dravo and Bayer Corporation. He retired in 2000.

After he married his wife Evelyn, he moved to Upper St. Clair where he raised his children. He greatly enjoyed their school years and was proud to be a USC Band Patent. Gene loved his family and spent his life doing everything he could to support them. He lived a life guided by faith, and he was most recently a parishioner at Holy Child Parish in Bridgeville.

Gene was a gifted musician and he loved and enjoyed all music genres. In addition to playing trumpet, he had a beautiful singing voice, proudly singing in St. George’s choir.

Always the avid photographer, Gene spent countless hours photographing, editing and indexing digital images to leave a permanent legacy of family memories for his children and grandchildren.

Gene was a devout Catholic, always practicing his religion in his interactions with others and the interest he took in helping neighbors and friends whenever needed. He will be dearly missed.
