Obituary for Eleanor Margaret "Ellie" Houston (Nowak)

Eleanor “Ellie” M. Houston
Eleanor Margert Houston, ne. Nowak, of McMurray, PA, lost her battle against Parkinson’s on June 23, 2022.
Ellie is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, William “Bill” Houston; her daughters Renee Zemanski (Greg) and Stacie Spencer (Keith); her grandchildren Houston Zemanski (Hannah), Nolan Zemanski, Ryan Spencer, Kellen Zemanski, and Madison Spencer; and two great grandchildren, Jonah and Jasper Zemanski. Known for her sense of style and beautiful smile, Ellie was born in 1935 to the late Casmir and Blanche Nowak; she grew up in Carnegie, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Dolores Musial and brother George Nowak. Ellie married Bill Houston in 1956, with whom she shared her love of golf and traveling. As a young adult, Ellie worked as a teller for Federal Reserve Bank before she devoted herself as a fulltime mother to her daughters. Before her illness, Ellie traveled with Bill to many places around the world and golfed regularly at South Hills Country Club and in Jupiter, Florida, where they spent the winter months. Ellie also enjoyed interior design, oil painting, and reading, as well as socializing with her friends. Her greatest passion, however, was spending time with the love of her life, Bill, who faithfully cared for her until her passing. The family would like to thank hospice, the nurses and aides at Paramount Senior Living for their compassionate care during her last few years of life. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS. Friends and Family are welcome at 2828 Washington Rd., McMurray 724-941-3211 on Tuesday 2-4PM & 6-8:30PM. Service and Interment private. In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to make a gift in Ellie’s memory to The Parkinson’s Foundation. Please add or view tributes at www.beinhauer.com.
