Dr. Henriette Simone (Bergé) Sassouni age 92 of Upper St. Clair, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2020. Beloved wife of Dr. Viken Sassouni; Loving mother of Dr. Anouk L. Sassouni, Chris Garo (Carol) Sassouni, Nadia Sassouni, and Helen Mann. Proud grandmother of Michelle Sassouni, George M. Asrian and Christopher Sassouni. Daughter of the late Dr. Louise (Descrières) & Dr. Henri Bergé. She was the loving sister of the late Dr. Max Bergé and Georges Bergé-Descrières. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cherished friends and neighbors. Born in Bordeaux, France in 1927, Henriette was a graduate of the University of Bordeaux and the University of Paris where she received her degree in dental science. At age of 27 she came to Philadelphia, PA on a Fulbright Scholarship to complete her dental residency at Philadelphia General Hospital in their dental department. She later married her beloved husband of 29 years, Dr. Viken Sassouni and moved to Pittsburgh, PA in 1964. At the age of 56 she returned to her studies at the University of Pittsburgh to receive her American Doctorate in Dental Medicine (D.M.D.). Henriette had a love of music and was an avid member of the St. Louise de Marillac Catholic Church choir. She enjoyed furthering her education, and had a deep love for her French heritage. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Louise de Marillac Catholic Church on Monday, June 8th at 10:30 AM for immediate family members. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
