Obituary for Dolores Rose Simmons (Smith)

Dolores Rose (Smith) Simmons

Age 88, of McMurray, passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at her home in Peters Township. Born on July 8, 1933 on the South Side of Pittsburgh, Dolores Rose was welcomed by parents, James and Margaret Smith. In 1951, Dolores graduated from Peters Township High School, where she met Earl W. Simmons, Jr. On September 22, 1956, they were wed, and Dolores began her life as a devoted wife, loving mother, beloved grandmother, and caring great grandmother. She spent her life raising her three sons and working alongside her husband on their fruit and vegetable farm, Simmons Farm in Peters Township. 

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents James Joseph Smith and Margaret N. (Makar) Smith Overcashier, and grandson Travis Simmons. Dolores was the beloved wife of 65 years to Earl W. Simmons, Jr.; loving mother of Scott (Jan) Simmons, David (Cindy) Simmons, and Robert (Jean) Simmons; devoted grandmother of Luke Simmons, Jeremy (Megan) Simmons, Andrew (Ashley) Simmons, Bethany (Mitch) Korns, Paula (Zach)Willis, Jenna Simmons, Emma (Tyler) Davidson, Rachel Simmons, Jacob Simmons and Lillian Simmons; adoring great grandmother of Hayley Louise and Josie Margaret Simmons, Ellie Lynn and Josie Drew Simmons, Henry David Korns, and Cooper James Willis; dear sister of Joseph James (the late Karen) Smith and Carolyn Overcashier Richardson. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements by BEINHAUERS. Friends and family are welcome Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 at 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 15317, 724-941-3211. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 10 a.m. at St. John the XXIII Parish, St. Benedict the Abbott Church. Everyone please meet at church.
