Daniel J. Nee, age 97, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2020, after an amazing lifetime of love. He was the devoted husband of the late Alberta Dedig Nee; adored father of Carolyn (Jim) Haeck, Daniel M. (Kathie) Nee, Rick (Patty) Nee, Tim (Bob) Nee and Ron (Maureen) Nee; proud grandfather of Matthew, Jessica, Jonathan, Jason, Ali, Daniel, Sarah, Nic, Alexander and Zac; and great-grandfather to Sean, Annabel, Forrest, Dash and Mills. Son of the late Joseph and Carolyn Farkus Nee and big brother to the late Bud and Iris. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cherished friends and neighbors. Dan worked for the Pennsylvania Railway and Pittsburgh Port Authority Transit Systems for over 40 years. His family was the center of his universe and was a devout Catholic who prayed daily, including the rosary which was his go to meditation. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was involved in many sports in his younger years and later became an avid bowler and sports spectator especially for his hometown Steeler football team.
Dan was fiercely independent but was always polite with a warm, positive and gentile spirit. As his healthcare staff would often comment “he is a joy and they broke the mold after they made him! “ He has been the constant joy and inspiration to his family and will be missed tremendously! He left a lasting legacy.
Arrangements by BEINHAUER. Friend received Friday, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at 2820 Washington Road, McMurray. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas Moore Parish, Saturday at 10:00 AM. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Masks must be worn for calling hours and church services.
