Cynthia Glasspool Hunter was called home to the Lord on January 13, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. The daughter of Alfred and Joan Glasspool, she was born on January 5, 1955 in Hudson, New York. She was a 1973 graduate of Upper Saint Clair High School and earned her nursing degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1977. Cindy began her nursing career at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and spent her final working years caring for elderly patients in Port Orange, Florida.
Cindy had many interests including bird watching, rooting on her Steelers, enjoying the beach and Nascar racing. Though none of these compared to the joy she found while spending time with her adoring grandchildren, particularly as she cheered them on during their sporting events.
Cindy is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Kenneth Glasspool. She is survived by three sons: Jeffrey and Robert Hunter of Port Orange, Florida and Brian Hunter and Brian’s wife Monica Carrillo Hunter of McMurray, Pennsylvania who lovingly cared for Cindy during her cancer journey along with her three cherished grandchildren: Joshua, Lucia, and Henry Hunter; and two devoted sisters: Barbara Ballard and her husband Gregory, of Marietta, Georgia, and Brenda Daugherty and her husband, Dennis of Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
Cynthia was a beloved grandmother, mother, sister, daughter and friend whose steadfast faith and unwavering optimism brightened the lives of all those who were privileged to love her. Her devotion to her family and her compelling personal relationship with Jesus Christ was a testimony to all, particularly as she clung to her faith during her cancer journey. Though Cynthia will be deeply missed, we rejoice alongside her knowing that she too is rejoicing in heaven with her Lord and Savior.
Friends and family will be welcomed at a visitation on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Beinhauer Family Funeral Homes in McMurray with a memorial service at 7:00 pm.
