Obituary for Christ N. Kazalas
Christ N. Kazalas, of Boca Raton, formerly of Mt. Lebanon, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 26, 2022.
He was born June 30, 1923, in Mishawaka, IN, a son of the late Nicholas and Athena (Moraitis) Kazalas. Later the family moved to Pittsburgh, PA.
Christ joined the army to fight in WWII Europe Arena. He served in the Army helping to load ammo into the howitzer canons and the Army Corp of Engineers. Due to combat, he lost his hearing and was later injured while in the Corp. He received numerous medals for his service including a bronze star.
After being honorably discharged from the army, Christ married Patricia Mandros and went on to attend the University of Pittsburgh. After graduating, Christ went into real estate selling and building homes. Later he built a painting contracting business. He was president of Allstate Contracting Co. and served as President of Pittsburgh Chapter of the Painting & Decorating Contractors of America.
His other affiliations were the Free Masons, The Order of Ahepa and the Pan Icarians for over 65 years. He was also one of the founders and president of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church.
Christ is survived by his daughter, Marguerite Kazalas; his partner Constance Pilallis; his granddaughter, Elana (Lipchak) Messina (husband Robert); his godson, Demetrios Patrinos (wife Kathe); his favorite nephew and spiritual father, Fr. John Chakos (wife Pres.Sandy) ; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia (Mandros); and his sisters, Mary Chakos, Henrietta Kazalas, and Irene Patrinos.

Family and friends are welcome Friday 4 to 8 p.m. at Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray (724-941-3211). Additional visitation will be held Saturday 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. in Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church. Interment at Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery.
