Obituary for Betty "Carole" Davis

Betty ”Carole” Davis

Betty ”Carole” Davis, 88, of Canonsburg, PA, passed surrounded by her loving family on May 3rd, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Chris Davis and the late Donald Polandick. Loving mother of Kathy Polandick, Michael Polandick (and spouse Beckie Polandick), and Jeanine Polandick (and spouse John Conley). She was also “Gramma” to Ben Polandick and Sam Polandick, “Gramma Carole” to Madeline and Melissa Conley; and “Great Gramma Carole” to Ava Conley. She was a dear sister of Larry Grimm and “Aunt Carole” to Leah, Gene, Gary, Heather, and Jon Grimm, as well as, David, Marc and Karen Buratti. She was “Great Aunt Carole” to Ashley Quinlan.

Carole was born in Homestead, PA at home and spent her early life in the Pittsburgh area attending school in Squirrel Hill, graduating from Taylor Allderdice High School. Carole and Don were married for 25 years and raised their family in DuBois, Pa. After Don’s passing Carole married Chris and they spent almost 40 years living across the country including DuBois, Las Vegas, and to eventually settle in Canonsburg.

Carole was a lifelong teacher. With her undergrad from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Clarion State College, along with her Master’s in Education from Penn State University, she taught in elementary schools in 5 different school systems that spanned multiple decades across multiple states. Mrs. Polandick was well known as an Elementary School teacher in the DuBois Area School System. Carole also taught at the School for the Blind in her early years and multiple systems for underprivileged children in her later years after ”retiring”.

At the core of Carole’s life was her faith. Anyone that new her knew she was never at a loss for words and was a true testament to spreading God’s word. After retiring she never lost her love of working with children and went back to work as a Director of the preschool program at Zion Lutheran Church where she developed the schooling program and growth. After the 2nd retirement, she managed and orchestrated bible classes for all ages at Waterdam Church where she was an active contributor and member up until her passing.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Carole at the Waterdam Church, 208 Galley Rd, Canonsburg, PA 15317 on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 11:00AM with lunch following in the fellowship hall. She has requested in lieu of flowers that donations will be made to the Waterdam Church memo the Carole Davis Education Fund.
