Anthony Henry “Tony” Evancic, Age 89, of Pittsburgh, a resident of Sunrise of Upper St. Clair, passed away February 15, 2021. Born in Lloydell, Cambria County, PA to the late Anton and Matilda (Brence) Evancic. He was the beloved husband of the late Rosemary (Teresi) and the late Philagonas (Keberly) Evancic. Loving father of Joan (Chris) Lessard; Brother of Kenneth (Jan) Evancic and the late William and Earnest Evancic. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cherished friends and neighbors.
Tony taught math and science at the Western Pennsylvania School for the Blind, retiring as Secondary Supervisor of Intermediate Units and served on the Board of Directors for 8 Years. He often advises on braille texts for the Public School Systems, was a braille proofreader for the Library of Congress, and collaborated on developing early computer “Speech”. He enjoyed problem solving, dining out, Music and a good debate. Tony spent the majority of his life living independently and traveling with his wife Rosemary and later in life his wife Philagonas. They experienced many cruises all over.
Arrangements by BEINHAUER. Due to the current pandemic a private service will be held for immediate family members. A celebration of life will be held at later date at the Western Pennsylvania School for the Blind.
