Ann Elizabeth McRory July 9, 1924 – August 6, 2020

Ann McRory, age 96, went to be with our Lord on the morning of Thursday August 6, 2020. A long time Peters Township resident, she passed at home peacefully in her sleep. Ann was the wife of the late Charles McRory, Jr., a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. She was also preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Deigan Connor and sister Cecelia Bowser.

Ann was the beloved mother of four children. She is survived by daughter Beverly (Jack) Pester of Boca Raton, Florida and three sons Rory McRory of McMurray, Thomas (Leanne) McRory of Cecil and Francis (Jennifer) McRory of Canton, Georgia. She has eight grandchildren; Kathleen Pester, Kelly (Eric) Damerow, Daniel McRory, Andrew McRory, Evelyn (Kyle) McReynolds, Kyle McRory, Taylor McRory and Connor McRory and one greatgrandchild Molly Damerow. Ann has two nieces Kathy and Janice Bowser of Arlington, Texas.

Ann, born July 9, 1924, loved her Catholic faith and was a 1942 graduate of St. Mary of the Mount High School on Mount Washington in Pittsburgh. Ann and her husband “Mac” married in 1948, soon moving to the Pittsburgh suburbs where they raised their four children. After many years of devoting her life to her family, Ann went to work for the Peters Township school system where she was well liked by both co-workers and the students. She retired in her late sixties becoming more active in the Women of St. Benedict. Ann was one of the original members of the parish and she loved her friends and activities in the church. In 2015 Ann suffered a stroke limiting her activity. The family sends a special thank you out to the ladies from Home Instead especially Jesy and Jackie from The Heart who lovingly cared for our mother in the last years of her life. Also, a thank you to Mary Ann who regularly administered to Mom’s spiritual needs.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made in Ann McRory’s name to the Women of St. John XXIII (formerly the Women of St. Benedict).

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday August 11th at St Benedict the Abbot (St John XXIII). All attendees are required to wear a mask and be spaced appropriately. Ann will be laid to eternal rest at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. To virtually attend the Funeral Services ( and interment (, please use the corresponding Zoom links provided.

You Mom was my Godmother. She was close friends with my Mother in their younger days. As my parents got older they lost touch. The las time I saw your Mom was the evening before my wedding in 1965, she stopped by to leave a gift as she was unable to attend the wedding. I often wondered where she was, not realizing she was still in Peters. I will always remember her smile, it was electric! So very sorry for your loss.

To the McRory Family:
It is with great sadness and and with heavy hearts that we reach out to the McRory family in this time of extreme sorrow. We moved next door to Ann and Mac in June of 1977. For 43 years we enjoyed the smiling company of Ann and our outdoor conversations. Always good natured and full of optimism. Ann was as excited as we were at the birth of our twin girls Candi and Dinelle. Over the years we would see her often mostly walking either to the Peters Middle School or to St Benedicts. We would always offer rides. Sometimes she would accept but mostly she would prefer the walk. After retirement we would see her less frequently except for special occasions. Both of our moms knew Ann well. They would always talk together at our Memorial Day picnics. Know that with her passing from his life she is now sitting at he hand of our creator for all eternity. We will miss her dearly and she will forever be in our thoughts and prayers. She will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Dear Rich & Karen, Thank You for your kind words. You were great neighbors and special friends to our parents. Despite my dad's "prized" possessions in the yard (lathes etc), our non-stop barking mutt, my loud 340 Dodge Dart, mountains of chord wood between our properties etc., you reached out to us and we became friends. I remember Rich hanging out with his father when I was just a kid in high school. I know it was very painful when his father passed away. During this time, Rich would take the time to talk with me about cars, engineering and other topics of the day. What a difference someone can make in another's life through something as seemingly insignificant as a few passing friendly conversations. I've been an engineer for almost 40 years now. I'll never forget it was Karen who called me the night my father passed away. I thank you for all the and things big and small you did for our mother over the years. We hope you all are doing well and enjoying retirement. Hit 'em straight and keep it in the fairway, Buc & Jennie McRory
