Geno graduated from Cretin High School in St. Paul. While there he played the alto saxophone and clarinet in a band that played at weddings and other events.

After graduating from high school he worked for the St. Paul Police Dept., taking statements and working in the ID Section. During this time he attended the Minnesota School of Business, graduating from the Court Reporting Program. In 1961 he was hired by Morse, Gantverg & Hodge Cleveland office as a court reporter, and relocated to Cleveland. In 1964 he opened an MG&H office in Pittsburgh, took over management of the office in 1971, and purchased MG&H in 1981. Geno loved his court reporting profession, working at it for almost 60 years, taking over 10,000 depositions. One of his several historical reporting events included the Kent State Hearings, when Ohio National Guardsmen shot unarmed student protestors. He mentored and trained many young court reporters over the years, allowing them to be true professionals at their craft, of the highest caliber. Many referred to him as a legend in the court reporting world.

Geno loved to play blackjack, and would travel to Las Vegas several times a year to play at his favorite casinos. He was an avid Steelers/Pirates/Penguins fan. As a Pirates season tickets holder for many years he enjoyed inviting family and friends to join him at home games. As a history buff, he and his son Steve made many road trips to visit Presidential Libraries throughout the US.

Geno was a truly kind, hardworking and helpful man. Integrity defined him with a positive and inspiring attitude and willingness to help others. He will be deeply missed by family, friends and clients. Celebration of life service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022, from 6 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m.
