The BEINHAUER CAREGIVER EXCELLENCE AWARD for September was presented on Tuesday, October 11, to Shane Rawlings, an intern at Paramount Hospice in McMurray.
Among all the nominations of hospice caregivers who have gone above and beyond in their duties, impressing both the families they worked with, and the colleagues who saw them in action, Shane’s nomination was especially moving.
The Beinhauer Caregiver Excellence Award consists of a gift card and a certificate, along with an entry into the drawing for the Caregiver Excellence Award of the Year.
Shane was presented his award by Scott Beinhauer, Director of Operations for Beinhauer Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, and Katie Brandt, Beinhauer’s Community Outreach Director, at a staff meeting of Paramount Hospice.
All area hospices, as well as the families they serve, are encouraged to nominate an excellent caregiver for next month’s award!
It’s quick and easy to fill out a nomination form, and it’s free!

A celebrated part of New Orleans culture is the jazz funeral. If you’ve never experienced one, you’re not alone—for the most part, it’s a Louisiana ritual. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t plan a larger-than-life jazz funeral event in any part of the country. These kinds of services are especially popular for musicians.
Although you can create any type of custom funeral service for you or for a loved one, jazz-themed funeral services usually include these elements:
While many jazz funerals are celebrated for musicians who have died, it’s now become more common to design these for people of every age, background, and ethnicity. If you’d like to plan a jazz-themed funeral either for yourself or for a friend or family member, start by talking to a funeral professional.
Beinhauer Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Services in Pittsburgh is prepared to fulfill your wishes for a New Orleans jazz-themed funeral service, or any service that includes a traditional ritual and music. If you’d like to pre-plan your funeral, we can help walk you through the process so that your funeral is meaningful to you or to your loved one.
Beinhauer Family Services is proud to announce that $1,000 was raised at their donation dunk tank on Peters Township Community Day, to benefit both Peters Township resident Geri Whalen, and the Pittsburgh area-based Michael J. Novosel Foundation.
