Kelly Carter is a licensed funeral director/embalmer who joined the Beinhauer Family Funeral Homes team in July of 2011 after 3 years at Willig Funeral Home & Cremation Services and Monument Co., where she acted as location manager. At Beinhauer’s, her role has shifted to focus on community education of the funeral, cremation, and cemetery events processes and monument design. She maintains and supplies content for the company website and several other forms of social media in order to provide resources for families before, during and after the time period in which a death has occurred.
She also fulfills the operations role of management of pre-need funding & scheduling, recording, and analysis, as well as some human resource management functions. Additionally, in January of 2012, Kelly became certified as a Funeral Celebrant and works with families to create a unique funeral or memorial ceremony that reflects the nuance of each life lived. She also manages the Beinhauer’s on-site memorialization company, Black Swan Monuments.
In addition to her role within the funeral home, she served as 2013 Chairperson for Pittsburgh’s Life Service Providers group, Chapter Facilitator for Business Referral Network (Orbis Chapter), and is an active member of Pittsburgh Professional Assisting Seniors and WOMEN of Southwestern PA, Peters Twp., South Hills and Southwest Communities Chambers of Commerce. She also volunteered as a 2012 Counselor for Camp Erin – a grief camp for kids aged 13-17, and is now trained to work with grieving children.
Kelly graduated Summa Cum Laude from Point Park University in 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in Specialized Professional Studies, a Minor in Psychology and a concentration in Environmental Health. Prior to that, she graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science where she earned her Associate’s degree in Funeral Service Management and received her diploma in Embalming, in addition to being elected Class #132 President.
