In the early 1920′s, livery stable horses that pulled funeral coaches during the week were driven by Ricks grandfather Ferd, to race at the harness tracks in Pittsburgh on Sunday afternoons. Through the years, the Beinhauer family interest in harness racing grew. Rick began racing horses at the age of 14 and continues to train and drive today at 67. With his wife Gina, they maintain Springflow Acres, a Washington Co. farm, breeding some of the best Standardbred horses in Penna.
